The man wanted to eat a free hot pot and was accused of extorting 5 million from Haidilao.

  In November last year, when the man Guo was dining in a shop in Fengtai District, Haidilao, he put the dead mouse prepared in advance in the hot pot, and used it to blackmail the Haidilao shop for 5 million yuan.

  On the afternoon of March 19th, the Fengtai court heard the case, and Guo, who was accused of extortion, pleaded guilty and repented in court. He said that his mind was hot at the time of the incident and he casually said "5 million yuan", but in fact he just wanted to eat a free hot pot.

  On November 13, 2018, a man in the Haidilao hot pot restaurant in Majiapu, Fengtai District said that he had eaten mouse cubs in the pot. Afterwards, the man asked the restaurant for compensation of 5 million yuan. The communication between the two sides failed, and the waiter called the police.

  With the police investigation, the incident reversed.

  According to the surveillance video, at around 17: 40 on November 13, 2018, Guo and his wife entered a Haidilao shop in Fengtai District. After more than 20 minutes, he called the waiter and said that there was something wrong with the hot pot: there was a mouse in a plate in front of Guo. Just before Guo found the waiter at around 18: 10, Guo had an obvious action of grabbing something.

  Guo threatened to report to the relevant departments and make the media public, and demanded RMB 5 million from Haidilao Store. After being rejected, he reported to the Municipal Food and Drug Administration on November 14.

  On November 15th, Haidilao reported to Majiapu Police Station of Fengtai Public Security Bureau that they had been blackmailed by customers for "finding dead mice in hot pot".

  After that, Fengtai police made an official report on the matter, saying that after asking witnesses, collecting surveillance videos and obtaining appraisal reports issued by third-party professional organizations, it was initially confirmed that Guo put the mice prepared in advance in a hot pot when eating in a Haidilao shop in Fengtai, and extorted 5 million yuan from it.

  Guo was arrested by Fengtai Branch of Beijing Public Security Bureau on suspicion of extortion.

  On December 26, 2018, Fengtai District People’s Procuratorate filed a public prosecution against Guo for extortion.

  In court, Guo restored the cause and effect of the incident. "On November 11, 2018, I went back to my hometown in Henan and brought a little mouse to Beijing. On the 13 th, the mouse in the mineral water bottle died, so I thought it was cold. I took the mouse to Haidilao Hot Pot Restaurant and ate a free hot pot. "

  Guo said that on November 13, he and his wife went to Fengtai, a sea fishing shop. After eating for a long time, he put the mouse in a hot pot, boiled it for 5 minutes, fished it out, put it on a plate, and then questioned the staff.

  "at first, the staff had to change a pot, and I said I didn’t want to eat any more. The staff also said that meal coupons can be given and can be used all over the country. " Guo said that there were several people in Haidilao and several hours of "communication".

  "They changed people many times, and they were very close to me, as if they were recording me. The staff asked me what I really wanted to do and wanted to pay me 20,000 yuan. I said that you might as well pay me 5 million? " Guo said that he was not premeditated to blackmail the 5 million yuan. "I think it was their Haidilao shop that set me up, so I just had a hot brain and said it casually."

  Guo said that the reason why he mentioned this amount was that he thought of a news that happened in Weifang, Shandong. "A hot pot restaurant compensated customers who ate mice for 5 million yuan." Since then, he has also sent WeChat to the staff of Haidilao Store. The content of WeChat is the contact numbers of some news media.

  In yesterday’s trial, the testimony of the staff of Haidilao Store showed that the store first said that it could compensate 2,000 yuan, and then said that it could compensate 20,000 yuan. After Guo said 5 million yuan, the staff felt that this was not simple. "It may be intentional extortion. We checked the news at that time and lost 500 yuan."

  Guo said that he also regretted asking for 5 million. "At that time, the staff had to let me leave the scene. I said: Can’t I give up all the claims? The staff still insisted on not letting me go. Finally, I said that I beg you, I sincerely give up the claim and finally leave the scene. "

  Prosecution

  The defendant can be given a lighter punishment if he fails to succeed.

  However, after leaving the scene, Guo’s attitude changed again.

  On November 14, Guo reported to the Beijing Food and Drug Administration. "The purpose of doing this is to feel that they are mainly soft, or to pressure for some money." Guo said.

  The prosecution accused Guo of extorting other people’s property for a huge amount, which violated the provisions of the Criminal Law of People’s Republic of China (PRC) and was suspected of extortion. In view of Guo’s failure to succeed due to reasons other than his will, he can be given a lighter or mitigated punishment according to the accomplished crime.

  The defender said that Guo was an attempted extortion and should be given a lighter punishment. In addition, Guo pleaded guilty and paid 300 yuan’s meal fee, and compensated Haidilao for the loss of 2,400 yuan.

  "I plead guilty and admit my punishment. My violation of law and discipline should be punished. I respect the law, judges, prosecutors and defenders and hope to give me a chance to start over." Guo said in the final statement stage.

  The case was not pronounced in court.
