　　Wu Jiamin, who is in his fifties, has lived in the old Xiaguan area near the Yangtze River. He is a political engineer of Nanjing Railway Materials Company. In the past, Xiaguan in Nanjing often saw wild animals and plants that were hard to find in the urban area. Wu Jiamin, who likes photography in his spare time, began to pay attention to shooting these things that were still "non-mainstream" at that time.

　　Talking about his "history of shooting finless porpoises", Wu Jiamin smiled and told Zi Niu journalists that it was purely a coincidence. In the autumn of 2007, as usual, he stood on the balcony of his office and watched the scenery of the Yangtze River Bridge with a telescope. He accidentally found several black things on the river near the pier of the bridge, which caught his attention. "Although I have lived by the river for many years, I have never seen this thing before, so I went to the river to watch it. These black-backed ‘ Big fish ’ What is it? " Wu Jiamin said that when he saw this fish-like thing, he really couldn’t name it. Fortunately, the fishermen who were familiar with the river didn’t know that the animal was called Jiang Zhuzi until they asked. When they came back, it turned out that its scientific name was Yangtze finless porpoise, and its living environment was not optimistic, and its number was decreasing day by day.

　　Since then, Wu Jiamin began to pay attention to the finless porpoise in the waters of the Yangtze River in Laoxiaguan. Every weekend, he runs on the riverbank line between the Yangtze River Bridge and the Third Bridge. Even he didn’t think that it would take 10 years for this concern to come and go, and he also recorded the finless porpoise for 10 years with his lens.

　　In the past 10 years, Wu Jiamin has traveled all over the Yangtze River in Nanjing, shooting many precious videos and tens of thousands of photos of finless porpoises. Wu Jiamin, riding a motorcycle in the storm, carrying a camera bag and hanging a camera around his neck, stared at the river with familiarity. "Riding a motorcycle to follow the footprints of the finless porpoise along the riverbank, sometimes it takes a whole day to wait, and it is hard to find its beautiful figure. It is very frustrating. Sometimes I accidentally meet a finless porpoise and leap in the river, feeling like a treasure, holding my motorcycle with one foot and my right hand ‘ Pa pa ’ Press the shutter slowly, turn on the camera switch with your left hand, keep scanning the river and take a once-in-a-lifetime scene. 　　After years of pursuit, Wu Jiamin’s efforts have paid off. He has been able to sum up the law of finless porpoises’ appearance and determine the scope of finless porpoises’ activities according to the climate change and the state along the Yangtze River in Nanjing. "The finless porpoise activity area is mainly concentrated in the lower reaches of Nanjing Xinshengzhou and the upper reaches of Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge." Wu Jiamin told Zi Niu news reporter that it can be determined that there are many finless porpoises between the upstream and downstream of Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge and Nanjing Second Bridge, and there are about 50 finless porpoises in this section.

　　According to Wu Jiamin’s observation for many years, although there are less than a thousand finless porpoises swimming in the Yangtze River according to the statistics of scientific research institutions, there are about 60 finless porpoises in the waters of the Yangtze River in Nanjing, which can be said to be very rare.

For example, at noon on May 19 this year, Wu Jiamin photographed the moment when the finless porpoise jumped out of the river at the Laoxiaguan River in Nanjing, which was the most wonderful. At 7 o’clock in the evening in July this year, he found about 50 finless porpoises chasing upstream in groups of three or five at the riverside pier, which is the most spectacular; On the morning of November 30, 2013, he photographed the finless porpoise chasing wild ducks on Qianzhou Island in the Yangtze River, which was the most interesting … …

　　In order to better protect the ecological environment of the Yangtze finless porpoise and the Yangtze River basin, in January 2014, the Nanjing Municipal Government proposed to protect the finless porpoise, and in September of that year, the provincial government approved the establishment of the Nanjing Yangtze finless porpoise provincial nature reserve. In the protected area, new docks and port docks will be strictly restricted. At the same time, fishermen in the protected area will gradually withdraw, and finally fishing in the protected area will be completely banned.

　　Since then, the Nanjing finless porpoise protection association was founded in July 2015 by a social group in the field of wildlife protection registered by the Nanjing Civil Affairs Bureau. Wu Jiamin was one of the six people who founded the association.
