Sky price network about car fee 3.1 km to charge more than 40,000

Mr. Zhao, who lives in Yubei New Archway, called an online taxi more than two months ago. Yesterday the bill was sent to his mobile phone: 3.1 kilometers of travel, 1598 hours and 13 minutes of driving, asking for 40,838.66 yuan.

"When I saw this fee, I laughed out loud." Mr. Zhao said, but after thinking about it carefully, it wasn’t right. It’s not that simple…

The driver picked up the wrong person and asked the passenger to cancel the order.

At around 22:00 on November 13 last year, Mr. Zhao called a taxi from Chongqing North Railway Station through the "Yidao" taxi software and was ready to return to the new archway. A white Peugeot 408 with a Chongqing D license plate took the order, and the driver, Master Tan, was near the Yellow Garden at that time.

However, after waiting for a long time, Mr. Zhao didn’t wait for the car. After calling, Master Tan said that he had received a person and went to his destination. "I told him that he must have picked up the wrong person, and he told me to cancel the order myself."

The passenger refused to cancel and complained to the driver

Mr. Zhao did not agree at that time, thinking that the problem with the order was not his fault, so he still asked the other party to pick him up. And Master Tan did not pick up Mr. Zhao again, so Mr. Zhao had to take a taxi home.

That night, Mr. Zhao complained about the situation to Yidao customer service. The next day, Yidao staff called back and said that Master Tan would be punished, and the specific punishment results would be replied later.

After 20 days, the order starts to be priced

While waiting for a reply, Mr. Zhao would sometimes use the Yidao APP network to book a car. About half a month later, he received the result of Yidao’s handling of Master Tan – a fine of 500 yuan and a period of study.

However, throughout the process, the order was not cancelled until December 3rd, when Mr. Zhao received a message reminding him that the order on November 13th had been priced by Master Tan.

Mr. Zhao didn’t care. After all, there was a problem with this order, and Master Tan was also punished by Yidao.

The "itinerary" ends after 66 days

To pay more than 40,000 yuan

Although Mr. Zhao didn’t take it seriously, the software continued to calculate the price. It wasn’t until 66 days later that the "trip" came to an end. On the morning of February 8 this year, Mr. Zhao received the news that the trip was over and opened the Yidao APP, which startled him. In this "trip" completed by Master Tan, a total of 3.1 kilometers were traveled, and it took 1,598 hours and 13 minutes (from 19:03 on December 3, 2016 to 9:16 on February 8, 2017). The total cost was 40,838.66 yuan. Excluding the previous pre-deposit of 230.05 yuan, Mr. Zhao still needs to pay 40,608.61 yuan.

Zhao, who had never boarded a car, naturally would not approve of the fare. But he was also a little worried that if he did not pay the fee, it would affect his personal credit.

Yidao is willing to cancel the order and return the fee.

Mr. Zhao wants a reasonable explanation

Yesterday at 11:22, the reporter dialed the phone number of Master Tan obtained from Mr. Zhao, and the phone was connected. After the reporter identified himself, the other party directly hung up the phone.

Subsequently, the reporter contacted the online customer service through the Yidao APP. At 12:44, the staff of Yidao called the reporter and said that they would contact the reporter after the matter was investigated clearly. As of 18:00 yesterday, the reporter had not received the call from the staff of the other party, and dialed back the number contacted at that time, prompting that only outgoing calls can be made, not incoming calls.

In the afternoon, the reporter contacted Mr. Zhao, who said that the staff of Yidao also contacted him with the same phone number. "The driver told Yidao that the car broke down and there was a problem with receiving the order." Mr. Zhao said that the other party said that he would cancel the order for him and return the 230.05 yuan that had been paid to the account, and compensate the 100 yuan coupon. Mr. Zhao refused, hoping to get an explanation from Yidao: "From the first complaint to now, why did this happen and why did it not find out in time when there was an abnormal fee?"

Regarding Mr. Zhao’s appeal, the staff of Yidao replied that they would give feedback to the relevant departments for further processing.

Chen Ye, director of Chongqing Kangyu Law Firm, believes that the original passenger transportation contract relationship in this dispute has not been reached, and Yidao has no reason to charge any more fees, not to mention that such high fees themselves go against the normal logic of life.

On December 21 last year, the "Interim Measures for the Administration of Online Booking Taxi Business Services in Chongqing Municipality" was promulgated and implemented. The measures stipulate that passengers who encounter any of the following circumstances may refuse to pay the fare; if they have already paid, the online car-hailing platform company shall refund: (1) Carrying others without the passenger’s consent; (2) The rental car fails and the passenger no longer rents it; (3) The service is interrupted due to the driver of the online car-hailing.
