On October 6th, in a small farmhouse in Shilou Village, Huanghua Town, Linzhou City, 85-year-old Liu Suocheng said excitedly when he saw Li Junsheng, vice chairman of Linzhou Photographers Association, taking pictures for him.

　　When the Hongqi Canal was built in 1960, Liu Suocheng, who was in his prime, once participated in the Battle of Wutai Cliff as a gunner and made contributions to the construction of the Hongqi Canal. Li Junsheng, a photographer’s association of Linzhou, who participated in the large-scale public welfare photography activity of "sending pictures to the countryside and approaching canal repairers", quickly rushed to Shilou Village after learning the story of the old man, trying to keep the images and stories for the old man. Li Junsheng said: "Many canal repairers passed away in those days. What we did was to leave images for these respectable and lovely canal repairers, record their stories, and let the spirit of Hongqi Canal be passed down from generation to generation."

In July, 2014, the large-scale public welfare photography activity of "Sending Shadows to the Countryside and Approaching Canal Repairers" carried out by the Propaganda Department of Linzhou Municipal Committee and Linzhou Photographers Association was launched in Nancaisang Village, Caisang Town, Linzhou City. Six outstanding citizens, including Jia Wenhui, Li Xiaoli, Li Zhonghui, Yang Yongfeng, Hu Xiaofeng and Zhang Jianqi, are storytellers in the team. Over the past year or so, they have either acted collectively or attacked individually, and walked into communities, rural areas, schools, enterprises and municipal departments to tell the story of inheriting the Red Flag Canal. Their first presentation won 200,000 people online and offline, which caused a strong response in urban and rural areas.

　　Jia Wenhui tells the story of the "loving mother" team building a fortress of love for poor children with warm arms. Li Xiaoli is a volunteer in Longshan community, telling the story of persistence, dedication, no regrets and happiness in being the most beautiful volunteer. Li Zhonghui, a staff member of Kaiyuan Sub-district Office, tells the story of "transformation" of an old community. Yang Yongfeng is the captain of the Red Flag Canal Emergency Rescue Team. He tells the story that he and his teammates are involved in public welfare rescue and doing good deeds. Hu Xiaofeng is a member of the voluntary blood donation service team, telling the story of great love and "red" volunteer dedication. Zhang Jianqi is a "good man in China" and the deputy director of the Association Department of Hongqi Canal Friendship Association. He tells the story that he saved people many times by the Qi River as a volunteer in party member, regardless of his own safety, and passed on the spirit of being brave by his actions.
