EXEED’s 128kph relative speed collision experiment was successful

Recently, the China Automotive Technology Research Center (hereinafter referred to as the China Automotive Research Institute) conducted a rigorous collision experiment. Two EXEED vehicles collided with each other at a speed of 64 kilometers and achieved success. It is reported that this is the first public 128kph (128 kilometers per hour) relative speed collision test in China.
According to Liu Lei, director of the real vehicle collision laboratory of the China Automobile Research and Natural Inspection Center, the contact surface of this high-speed vehicle-to-vehicle collision test is 25% of the width of a vehicle, simulating the accident form of the vehicle crossing the median line and colliding head-on with the opposite vehicle, which can truly reflect the protection effect of the vehicle on the passengers in the vehicle when a similar traffic accident occurs; as a non-standard collision condition, the experiment poses new challenges to the vehicle’s constraint system response and body structure strength, which can better test the vehicle safety and reliability.
According to the introduction, from the whole process of this experiment, the body structure of the two test cars remained intact, providing enough living space for passengers; the door was not completely separated from the car body during the collision, and the passengers were not thrown out of the car; after the test, the non-collision side door can be opened smoothly, which is convenient for passengers to be rescued. From the functional performance, the front airbag, side aircurtain, and side airbag all burst normally, and the contact position of the human head is the airbag inflatable area, which can absorb the energy possessed by passengers; the seat and seat belt did not fail, and the seat belt can buffer the energy of passengers faster, which can effectively ensure the safety of the occupants. In addition, the fuel system did not leak, and secondary disasters such as fires did not occur.

It is worth mentioning that the car is equipped with an oversized side air curtain with a length of 2770mm, which can cover one, two, and three rows of areas, reducing the damage caused by side impact and effectively protecting the safety of rear passengers.
